Experience

Head of REACT, Firmwide Technology Resiliency — JPMorganChase May 2024 – Present
  • Lead a specialist team integrating client security advisory, cyber resilience, emerging-threat intelligence, strategic assessments, and executive exercises across payments, markets, treasury, and custody capabilities supporting roughly $20T in daily financial activity.
  • Serve as a senior external representative of the firm in 3,000+ client engagements across 50+ countries and six continents, translating complex cyber, fraud, technology, and resilience issues for executive, security, risk, treasury, and operations stakeholders.
  • Partner with relationship, sales, and product teams on 100+ RFPs representing more than $10B in business.
  • Delivered a board-mandated financial-resilience program for a multinational energy company — designing and exercising a minimum viable operating model for critical payments during a cyberattack or outage; strengthened continuity for a major pharmaceutical company’s in-house bank.
  • Designed and led multinational cyber and operational-resilience exercises with 100+ participants across continents, testing executive decision-making, escalation, communications, and payment continuity.
  • Lead executive after-action reviews and emerging-threat assessments for senior, Operating Committee, audit, regulatory, and client audiences.
Attack Simulation & Emerging-Threat Research, Cybersecurity Operations — JPMorganChase Apr 2019 – May 2024
  • Led an integrated attack-simulation and emerging-threat research function spanning adversary emulation, red-team operations, threat intelligence, and AI-enabled risk modeling.
  • Co-established a purple team; delivered firmwide phishing, vishing, and no-notice exercises, aligning offensive findings with defensive detection and control improvements.
  • Initiated the enterprise after-action review practice for major incidents, including Log4Shell.
Chief Technology Officer / Director of Cybersecurity — Aveshka, Inc. Nov 2016 – Apr 2019
  • Senior technology and security executive (CTO / CISO-equivalent) for a cybersecurity practice, directing high-sensitivity federal programs for Department of Defense and Intelligence Community customers.
  • Modernized the Pentagon’s digital-forensics and insider-threat program and designed a user-activity-monitoring architecture for a national insider-threat program.
  • Directed advanced-persistent-threat investigations and complex cyber-response efforts, coordinating with law-enforcement and counterintelligence partners.

  • Chaired an interagency working group spanning much of the Intelligence Community, coordinating policy and operational activity for technical surveillance countermeasures and national-security protective operations.
Director of Training & Intelligence Operations Officer — U.S. Department of Defense / Intelligence Community 1999 – 2018
  • Nearly two decades in a joint special-operations and Intelligence Community unit, beginning in U.S. Army Special Forces and progressing into intelligence leadership across multiple overseas theaters.
  • Directed a national-security training program supported by an approximately $200M budget, rebuilding curriculum, operations, and standards to certification by two Intelligence Community agencies.

  • Advise doctoral research in cybersecurity analytics, digital forensics, fraud, insider threat, operational resilience, agentic AI, and machine unlearning. Primary advisor to 10 completed doctoral students; committee member on 25+ doctoral committees.
  • Teach doctoral-level applications of AI and machine learning to malware analysis, fraud detection, social engineering, cloud security, and cyber defense.
